Vol. 1 Chapter 1

One day, I remembered memories of my past life.

In my past life, I was different from my current tall, blond, blue-eyed self. I had black eyes, black hair, and an average build.

Along with these memories, I realized the horrible way I’ve been living my life. I was speechless as I recognized how low I’d fallen as a human being.

Because my parents were a ducal family and I was their eldest son, Kaiser Vi Quist, I was spoiled rotten.

As a result, I never learned patience. If things didn’t go my way, I’d throw a tantrum, get angry quickly, and even resort to violence against the servants. I had become a textbook example of a worthless human being.

My parents didn’t scold me. Instead, they praised me, saying, “This is how someone destined to lead should behave,” further boosting my inflated ego.

It’s no wonder people thought my parents were raising a monkey, not a human. In fact, looking back, I remember being called “mountain monkey” behind my back quite often.

Why do I say “looking back”? Because at the time, I didn’t even realize those insults were directed at me.

To put it simply, I was a wild animal, living by my emotions without self-control or the ability to restrain my anger. My parents, the duke and duchess, were terrifying enough that nobody dared to correct me, fearing for their own lives if they angered them. That was me—a monster.

Because of this, the servants treated me like a ticking time bomb. I never realized my behavior was wrong, so I never had a chance to correct my attitude or personality. In a way, I was a victim too.

However, this doesn’t excuse my past misdeeds. No one will forgive me just because I say, “Please forgive me.”

From now on, I’ll change my ways (or rather, having remembered my past life’s values, I’ve already changed my perspective). I’ll work on regaining the trust of those around me little by little.

Still, considering my past actions and attitude, there will be people who will never forgive me.

Olivia is definitely one of those people.

When I first met Olivia at a noble’s party, I fell in love at first sight. I pushed the engagement forward using my wealth, completely disregarding Olivia’s wishes.

At first, I proposed to her directly, but she obviously refused. So I used the power of my ducal family to create a situation where she couldn’t refuse the engagement. That was truly despicable.
