Chapter 0 - Prologue

I was seeing a dream.

The LCD screen of a laptop computer shines brightly in a pitch-black room.

I sat down at my desk and quietly stared at the screen.

There was a family smiling happily on the screen.

There were kind parents and a clever-looking young daughter.

The picture-perfect ideal family as seen in commercials.

They seem really happy…

On the desk was a suicide note, which I had just finished writing.

In case you’re wondering, a will, unlike a testament, has no legal restrictions.

So basically, it doesn’t matter what I write.

For example, your feelings for your parents, your appreciation for your loved ones and friends… But none of those things were missing for me.

I am ashamed to say that I have nothing to write about.

However, when I thought about what I was going to do in the future, I felt compelled to leave even a poor suicide note.

Okay, now there is nothing left to do. All that remains is to wait patiently for the time to come.

Suddenly, I looked at the clock and saw that the time was a little after 1:00 am.

I have a counseling appointment today. It’s time to go to bed.

As I lay on the bed and closed my eyelids, I instantly felt sleepy.

Then the usual dream slowly approached.

But it would soon come to an end.

Right? ××-chan?

Yeah, that’s right.

I was seeing a dream.

And then, as always, I was quietly and slowly fall away, enveloped by the blackness of the world.

Through thick and thin, yes, wherever I go…
